News Release: Gencom Delivers State-of-the-Art IP Studio Installation for Major Australian Broadcaster
Sydney, Australia – Gencom Technology, Oceania’s leading independent provider of integrated solutions for broadcast and professional media production, has successfully completed the installation of a cutting-edge television production facility for a major Australian broadcaster. This project marks a major step forward in the broadcaster’s strategy to expand its presence in Western Sydney, a rapidly growing region, while future-proofing its production capabilities.
The new facility, which officially went live in late 2024, features a fully automated television studio, advanced radio production spaces, and cutting-edge editing suites. Among the highlights is a future-focused TV studio designed for maximum flexibility, boasting LED walls that allow for rapid graphical changes at the push of a button. The installation also includes a significant shift towards IP-based broadcasting, ensuring the infrastructure is ready for the next generation of media production technologies.
The success of this project is attributed to the collaborative efforts of Gencom and the broadcaster’s delivery team. The Gencom team’s expertise and innovative solutions were key in overcoming the challenges posed by the space, which was originally designed for a restaurant, and constraints such as low ceilings and existing building services. These obstacles were managed effectively to deliver a world-class facility on time. The result is a production environment that went live seamlessly and is fully prepared to expand its capabilities in the new year.
Unique elements of the facility include its IP-based broadcasting infrastructure and heavy reliance on LED technology, which provides unparalleled flexibility for various productions. The LED walls, creatively used to disguise structural columns within the studio, were even featured in the studio’s opening broadcast. This technological innovation highlights the adaptability and forward-thinking design of the new studio.
Gencom’s ability to adapt and collaborate was crucial throughout the project. Their experience and seamless coordination with other vendors and the broadcaster’s internal staff ensured every detail was accounted for, with a focus on practical, effective solutions. This partnership has resulted in a facility that not only modernises the studio’s production capabilities but also supports a broader organisational strategy.
The project also enabled the consolidation of the original office space, freeing up resources for additional content creation and production. The relocation of several hundred content makers to the second location underscores the broadcaster’s commitment to enhancing its relevance in the area.
Gencom’s Director, Keith Bremner, commented on the milestone: “We are proud to have partnered with (this Australian broadcaster) on this transformative project. This installation reflects our commitment to delivering innovative, future-ready solutions that meet the evolving needs of broadcasters.”
The new facility is set to expand its production scope in 2025, incorporating augmented reality graphics and additional content formats. This collaboration between Gencom and the broadcaster represents a significant achievement in Australian broadcasting, underscoring the importance of adaptability and innovation in media technology.
